Introduction to Inspiration
The last few years have seen some amazing changes in the City of Salford, with new infrastructure, homes, places of work, schools, churches and leisure facilities, as well as new shops being built.
Many people and groups across the city have worked hard at these changes, and at the same time, the Christians have had a growing desire to pray for their city and to play an active part in seeing Salford changed.
We believe that Salford has the blessing of God upon it and that we are at the beginning of seeing a total transformation of this city in which eventually the city will fulfil its God-given destiny - there is a growing vision and hope for the future spreading throughout our City. At the same time we must all realise that change in itself is not always easy.
Inspiration, which is a project arm of City Light Trust, has been set up to inspire, help and encourage the church and individual Christians to fulfil their role(s). We, the church, the bride of Christ, must rise up and fulfil our potential and destiny in the transformation of this City of Salford. Because of the blessing of God being upon us, we also believe that Salford is a city from which to reach the nations of the world and we therefore aim to be an inspiration to other cities and people groups.
THE NEXT STEP
In February 2007, as City Light Trust celebrates its 15th Anniversary, we are pleased to launch our new project arm “Inspiration”, which, along with others, will work towards the total transformation of the City of Salford and become an inspiration to others. Having worked with thousands of children and young people across Salford, and dozens of churches, schools and other agencies, CLT launch this new project with a massive expectancy of what the God-given future of this City of Salford is and the role and destiny of the church in it.
Our aims are:
- To raise the level of intercessory and informed prayer for the City of Salford and its people
- To help increase, in availability and in quality, Preaching and Teaching which will help us to understand and apply the lessons God wants us to learn and which we can put into practice as we work towards transforming our city.
- To act in an advisory and consultancy capacity in the area of transformation of the City of Salford by spending time with churches, Christian organisations and other groups and individuals.
